As the 2007-08 basketball season gets underway, St. Benedict’s Prep (Newark, N.J.) power forward Samardo Samuels begins the year atop the Class of 2008 rankings. You’ll see a lot of Samuels in HARDWOOD, a RISE special issue dedicated to high school hoops. Not only is Samuels in the Hot 100, but his team is in the Power 50 and he’s on the cover along with his good friend, Tyreke Evans of American Christian (Aston, Pa.).
