Thomas has been a prominent role player for the Tar Heels, filling in nicely when star point guard Ty Lawson missed nine games with a sprained left ankle. But even back in May/June of 2004, we knew Thomas had vast potential when we put him on the Bay Area cover as an Oakland Tech (Oakland, Calif.) senior.
